 | | Red Marsh | The countryside of the Trebon region is diverse and picturesque and at the same time interesting due to its development. The forests, meadows, rivers and ponds along with scattered human settlements form the landscape attract visitors to trip and itinerancy. As an area of extraordinary natural-science significance, the Trebon region was incorporated into the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve network within the program “Man and Biosphere” in 1977. The region was declared a Protected Landscape Area with an area of 435 sq miles in November 1979. Of the thirty-three small-scale protected areas, five have the status of national nature reserve: the system of fishponds “Velky and Maly Tisy” near Lomnice nad Luznici, the natural meandering stream of the Luznice River with the remains of alluvial forests “Stara reka” (the Old River) near Trebon, peat bog “Ruda” and the preserved peat bog of transition in the southern part of the Protected Landscape Area grown with bog pinewoods “Cervene | | Tree frog | blato” (Red Marsh) and “Zofinka”. The reserve of “Cervene blato” (Red Marsh) is situated in the southern part of the Trebon Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve, 9, 32 miles south from Trebon. It protects one of the peat bogs that are typical of the Trebon region. The peat bog is soggy, cold and acid biotype which is poor in nutrient matters. The bog originated in terrain depression as a result of fen vegetation that started to grow over 10-12,000 years ago. In place not affected by human impact, the peat bog is now covered with wetland pine (Pinus rotundata) stands and dense undergrowth of marsh tea. This nature formation resembles coniferous forest of northern taiga. There is an instructional trail leading through the most interesting part of the reserve Cervene blato. | | Flowers on field | The Trebon region has ideal conditions foe all possible sorts of tourism. The down-country, rich in forests and fishponds and interwoven with a dense network of cycling trails and educations rotes, provides a terrain suitable for recreational sportsmen and beginning cyclists. The most recommended is the education cycling route called “Okolo Trebone” | | Typical window with geranium | (Around Trebon) with 24, 2 miles. It is the continuation of a long distance cycling route Greenway Prague – Vienna.
Cycling, horse-riding, hiking, cultural events and calm sit-downs in the courts of quaint pubs situated both in the centre and outskirts of the city allow visitors to forget the troubles of everyday life and help gather more strength. Trebon and its surrounding landscape is a real cure – the physical and mental cure which everybody needs from time to time. Come and see for yourselves.
