ImageThe village Holasovice is the pearl of South Bohemian peasant Baroque. The village was named after a king whose people settled here in the first half of the 13th century. In the years 1292-1848 the village was in the possession of the Monastery of ImageVyssi Brod. Every peasant estate bears is typical name after its owner. The basic historical part of the village creates the rectangular order of about 22 well-preserved farm-houses with the pond in the center. Holasovice with its large number of outstanding 18th -and 19th-century regional buildings in a style known as “South Bohemian Folk Baroque” represents an example of traditional rural settlement. Village Holasovice is located 87 mi south from Prague near Ceske Budejovice.

of Olomouc. There are extraordinary interiors in the castle. Other jewels of Kromeriz are the large stylish gardens – Podzamecka and Kvetna. The gardens and castle of Kromeríz are an exceptionally complete and well-preserved example of a European Baroque princely residence and its gardens. In 1998 these sights of Kromeriz were put down on the list of the World Cultural Heritage. It is a well-preserved sample of European Baroque noble residences and parks. Kromeriz stands on the site of an earlier ford across the River Morava168 mi east from Prague.

ImageA beautiful Renaissance chateau in Litomysl was built by ImageVratislav of Pernstejn in the years 1568-1577 as a Renaissance arcade-castle of the Italian style. In the 18th century were added Baroque features. The facade of chateau is decorated by graffito and the courtyard is surrounded by spectacular arcades. A chateau theatre has a large collection of stage decorations. In the chateau brewery was born the famous musical composer Bedrich Smetana and here is Museum of Czech music now. In the city centre are well-preserved a significant religious memorials and a group of Renaissance and Baroque houses with arcades. Litomysl lies 99 mi east from Prague.

Trebic is situated on both banks of the Jihlava River on Czech-Moravian border 93 mi south-east from Prague. The Romanesque-Gothic Basilica of St. Procopius and the Jewish neighborhood of Zamosti quarter with its extensive cemetery are the first independent Jewish monuments on the UNESCO list outside the territory of Israel. The most valuable building is the newly reconstructed New Synagogue and Jewish Cemetery with 3000 gravestones the oldest of which dates back to 1625. The Basilica of St. Procopius was built in the middle of the 13th century in Romanesque-Gothic style at the Benedictine Monastery, founded in 1101 by the Premyslid clan.

The Villa Tugendhat is an example of the international style in the modern movement in architecture in Europe in the 1920s and is now open to the public.
