- Oistins: Oistins is best known as the center of island’s fishing industry and it is our secret tip for Friday’s night. Every Friday Oistins hosts the best Barbadian party with reggae, pop music, very tasty barbecued fish, and plenty of rum and local drinks an honest price.

- Population: The population is approximately 270,000, and the ethnic mix is as follows:93% African descent, 3% European descent , 4% Indian, Asian and mixed races.
- Postal system: The General Post office is in Bridgetown at Cheapside, and there are seventeen district post offices island-wide. Stamps can be bought easily from most hotels and a variety of stores.
- Parishes: The country is divided into 11 parishes: St. Lucy, St. Peter, St. Andrew, St. James, St. Michael, Christ Church, St. Tomas, St. Joseph, St. John, St. George and St. Philipe.

- Religion: The main religion is the Anglican religion, but there are over the hundred different religious denominations.
Image- Rum: If you want to learn how one of the world’s popular rum, Mount Gay Rum, is made, visit the rum distillery. A visit would not be complete without sampling the magic of Mount Gay Rum.

- Safety: serious crime is not common. However, do not leave valuables in hired cars; stay in well-it, familiar areas at night; and remember to lock your hotel room doors. Manchineel Trees bear a poisonous green fruit that resembles a crabapple. They are found on many West beaches and if the fruit is touched it will blister skin. Also if it is raining do not shelter under these trees as water running off of the leaves will cause blister.
- Swimming on the East Coast is very dangerous and should be avoided.
- Sun: Too much of good things are bad so don’t spoil your holiday by getting too much sun. The sun is strongest between 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. so be sure to use strong sunscreen during these hours.

- Surfing: Bathsheba is well-known surf spot, and surfers all over the world go to surf here.

- Taxes: 15% VAT is charged in stores and restaurants, and 7,5% in hotels. There is a good selection of tax-free shopping, especially in Bridgetown. There is a Departure Tax of BDS$ 25.00 to be paid at the airport when leaving the island.
- Telecommunications: You can call home with Cable & Wireless. To place a direct dialed long distance call to any North American territory, simply dial 1, the area code, and your party’s telephone number. For calls to the United Kingdom, dial 011 44, plus the area code and the number you wish to call. Remember to omit the "0" before the area code.
- Time: GMT minus 4 hours in winter and minus 5 hours in summer.
- Tourist information: Cot Brochure Display has placed many brochure stands island-wide promoting the best activities available to visitors.
Image- Taxi: Barbadian taxi drivers are often lauded for their hospitality, honesty and reliable service. However, as taxi do not have regulated meters, you should first find out the cost of your impending journey by checking with your hotel front desk, or agreeing to a price with the taxi driver before embarking on your journey.

- Underwater adventures: Barbados has a varied and unique marine life. Every dive center offers reef and wreck dives daily. They also offer classes for beginners, underwater photography instruction, camera rentals, and snorkeling trips.

- Water: The island’s water supply is extremely clean and safe to drink as it is filtered by coral/limestone and captured in underground aquifers.
- Weather: The rainy season is from June to November, which is the same as the hurricane season. The temperature normally ranges from the mid 70’s to mid 80’s Fahrenheit. The trade winds cool the island and blow nearly every day of the year.

- Zouk: The music of Barbados today is zouk, a snappy dance rhythm influenced by the Africans.
