 | | Denver courthouse by night | Denver’s other link to the old times is a man called William F. Cody, better known as Buffalo Bill. It was here that the legendary bison hunter died aged 71, on a visit to his sister. He was buried under Lookout Mountain nearby and his grave, as well as the Buffalo Bill Museum in Denver, have now ranked among Colorado’s most popular tourist spots for more than 80 years. Finally, the less-explored face of the Wild West is represented by the city’s Museum of the unjustifiably ignored Afro-Americans cowboys, who actually accounted for as many a third of these legendary cattle-drovers.
 | | Denver | Denver’s attractions don’t just include the museums that illustrate little-known chapters of American history. Although Denver lies close to the geographical centre of United States, midway between Mexico and Canada, the city also boasts one of the country’s largest sea aquarium, while you can see as many as 1,600 live exotic butterflies in the artificial tropical forest of another local natural wonder- the Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center. The Denver Art Museum will also double in size, with the construction of a spectacular new wing.
Original Denver’s first permanent building was a saloon. The tradition continues in the countless brewpubs and breweries in LoDo quarter. | | Capitol in Denver | To the heart of the city dominates the D&F Tower, a 325 feet high replica of the campanile of St Mark’s in Venice. The most tourists come to the city centre where pedestrian | | Capitol | shopping area of 16th Street is located. Here on sunny days, people sit around the fountains or in the cafés, chatting and watching the street performers. The women eager to shopping find southeast on Speer Boulevard or Cherry Creek more than 400 shops and famous boutiques.
The Rocky Mountains offer today possibilities for world-class skiing, biking, serene hiking and intense rock climbing. Beyond the city, Colorado’s National Forests provide miles of wilderness areas for camping, back packing, exploring and hiking, while in the Rocky Mountains there is skiing, as well as opportunities for hiking and mountain biking.
Denver is also called “the Sports Town USA” thanks to five big sports teams of football, basketball, baseball, soccer and ice hockey.
