 | | Statue of Frantisek | Frantiskovy Lazne is situated near the German border and the curative effect of mineral springs is known from 12th century. Thanks to the uniform Classicist architecture of the spa buildings and spring pavilions is very cherished by foreign visitors. Frantiskovy Lazne has a vast wealth of natural curative sources suitable for the treatment of heart and vascular diseases, gynecological disorders and disorders of the motor system. The spa has 24 springs of strong carbonic water saturated with minerals. 12 springs are used for baths and drinking cures. The rich local deposits of sulphur-ferric peat are used for packs and baths. A very important source of natural therapy is the spring which emanates carbon dioxide. The individual buildings are surrounded by a sea of greenery - parks and woodland parks which are the pride of the spa and which provide the spa guests with the required calm. Namesti miru (Peace Square) dominated by Frantiskuv pramen (Frantisek spring) lies in the centre of the town. Nearby is the statue of the boy with the fish, called Frantisek. Other important places are the New Colonnade, the colonnades of the Salt (Solny) and Lucni (Meadow) springs.
 | | Jachymov Radium Palace | Jachymov, the first radon spa in the world, is a lovely small town with a rich mining tradition. It was here where the Nobel-prize winners Marie and Pierre Curie once stayed and discovered a new atom of polonium and radium from the ore mined in Jachymov. This made the town famous world-wide. The radioactive springs in Jachymov were soon started to be used for treatment when in 1906 the Jachymov spas was opened for the first guests. The radioactive springs are primarily used for the treatment of the loco-motor system. Modern therapeutically methods which are today used in Jachymov, such as baths in thermal water with big radon content, greatly contribute towards improving the health state of people suffering from disorders of the loco-motor tract (rheumatism, gout, after orthopedic operations, post-injury treatment), of the peripheral nervous system, of digestive systems, and as well as disorders of the metabolism.
