ImageHourglass tree frog (Hyla ebraccata) - The genus Hyla is one of green tree frogs (Hylidae). The word Hyla means "tree". Hourglass frogs owe their common name to the transparent skin on their belly. When seen from below, it is possible to observe the frog's intestines, including the beating of its heart and the circulation of its blood.

ImageMasked Tree frog (Smilisca phaeota) has distinct black robber's mask behind eyes, and large dark blotches on back.

Drab Tree frog (Smilisca sordida) is smaller than its congener Smilisca phaeota and it is typical of extreme color variations.

ImageBrilliant Forest Frog
(Rana warszewitschii), also called Warszewitsch's Frog, is plain brown and inconspicuous. However, when it jumps it displays the brilliant yellow spots on the back of its legs and the red underneath.

ImageEmerald Glass Frog
or Giant Glass Frog (Centrolene prosoblepon) is relatively small (1in – 1.2 in), typically arboreal frogs with translucent skin with uniform green color, many times with black spots scattered throughout. ImageThe male has grabbers on its arms called humeral spines that it uses to, well, grab the female for copulation. Its eyes are gold-silver with slight black reticulation. Giant Glass Frog is nocturnal frog which can be found in the vegetation above and near pools.

Rocket Frog (Colostethus nubicola) is small frog looked like poison frog. Rocket Frog is very good jumper. Adult males carry the tadpoles on their backs until they turn into little frogs. Colostethus nubicola can be found in humid forests in southwestern Costa Rica.

Bransford's Litter Frog (Eleutherodactylus bransfordii) can be found in Costa Rica in the Atlantic lowlands and the cordilleras.

ImageSlim-fingered Rain Frog
(Eleutherodactylus crassidigitus) is very strong jumper with long legs, and large square toe-pads. Slim-fingered Rain Frog is brown on their backs, sometimes green, with black band through eyes. It can be found in rainforest.

Smokey Jungle Frog (Leptodactylus pentadactylus)is also known as Central American Bullfrog. This medium-sized frog, perhaps 3 inches long, will get much larger, large enough to eat other frogs and snakes and whatever it can stuff into its gaping maw. They are popular in the pet trades for their attractive colors and large size.

ImageGreen Climbing Toad
(Bufo coniferus) is ground-huggers, not tree climbers. This species is an excellent climber, however. You can find many of these toads resting in pools or perched on the vegetation at night. For Bufo coniferus is typical the dark ridges on its head, called cranial crests.

ImageCane Toad
(Bufo marinus), also called the Giant Toad, is a real giant and large individuals may weigh as much as 3.3 lbs. It is also a very toxic toad and has very few natural enemies because of that. In areas where this species has been introduced this has led to natural disasters - the toads eat almost anything that fits in their stomach.

Wet Forest Toad (Bufo melanochlorus) is a toad from family Bufonidae (true toads). The toads have in common a stocky figure and short legs, which makes them poor jumpers. Bufo melanochlorus is found only in the rainforest.

ImageSpurell’s flying frog
(Agalychnis spurrelli) is red-eyed tree frog with vertical pupils (common to all Agalychnis species) and orange flanks.

ImageIf you will kiss some frog in Costa Rica three times maybe you will turn into a prince or into a toad.
