The impressive Renaissance Trebon Chateau is situated in the Renaissance park near the south-western side of the historical centre and. The chateau was built later on the place of the Gothic castle. It was originally the courtyard of feudal lords, then a small fortress, and later, in the second half of the 14th century, a small stone Gothic castle. During the time it was majestically enlarged into a Renaissance chateau. The chateau comprises the four-winged building with 24 rooms and with central tower. The large park was founded at the beginning of the 17th century by Petr Vok.
St Giles Church (kostel sv. Jilji) was first mentioned as a parish church in 1280. In 1367, the Augustinian monastery was founded in Trebon and the Church, which became part of the monastery, was rebuilt as a monastic one. Its presbytery was finished about 1380 while the building of the nave took five more years. At the same time, a convent was built on the northern side of the church. One part of the convent, the Cloister of the Crucifixion, has been preserved almost intact till these days. The monastic Church was badly damaged by a big fire in 1781. Ensuing reconstruction changed the forms of the Church (Baroque barrel-roofed vault). A general reconstruction of the monastery and the church was held in 1897-1903 and it restored the original Gothic shape to the Church tower. St Giles Church has been the seat of the rural dean since 1785 when the monastery was abolished.
In the Trebon region, the first fishponds were created as early as the 14th century. The greatest pisciculturists of the Trebon region were Stepan Netolicky, Jakub Krcin, and Mikulas Ruthart. The Svet Fishpond (The World Fishpond) was built by Jakub Krcin from Jelcany in the middle of 16th century. Because of the complications during its construction, due to various disagreements with the Trebon inhabitants, Jakub Krcin gave the fishpond the name Nevdek (Ingratitude). The very strong dam 5.170 ft long and 56 ft wide across its top matches the low load bearing capacity of the soil and the former fishpond’s much bigger size, as it used to be connected to the fishpond Opatovicky at this very spot. Due to low fish yields, the water level was lowered in 1610 and thee two fishponds were divided by a new dam containing a sluice. The fishpond Svet is used for recreation and its size of 479 acres makes it eighth largest among the fishponds of Trebon region.
Below the dam of the Svet fishpond, across the road, are fish-storage tanks with were constructed in 17th century. Since 1977 they have been completely redesigned bringing about an increased capacity to better handle the stored fish. Thee fish-tanks are especially important during the period of fish harvests when the incoming fish are "cleaned" here with continuous inflow of fresh water, improving the taste of their flesh.
Looking at the historical center from the dam of Svet pond, you can see the Regent brewery, the gates to the town of Trhosvinenska and Novohradska, built in 16th century, remnants of the fortified wall, and the park of the Chateau of Trebon arranged following an English style in the mid-19th century.
The family vault of the Swarzenbergs is found in the large park on the south-east side of the Svět Pond. It is one of the most architecturally remarkable monuments in southern Bohemia. Build the family vault of the Swarzenbergs; it was an idea of Eleonora, the wife of Jan Adolf II Swarzenberg. From 18th century, members of the main branch of the Swarzenberg family were buried in the nearby St Giles Church.
The original project for the vault was organized by Johann Schmidt. He designed the two-storey building in the romantic English Gothic (Neo-Gothic style) style, with a monumental stair ramp. The construction of the vault began on July 1874 and it was finished in three years. On 29 July 1877, the vault was consecrated by the Archbishop of Prague. One of its peculiarities is that the vault itself is under the level of the terrain and Pond Svet.
